In order to make the crown thick enough to hide discolouration, teeth sometimes need to be thinned. Additionally, these crowns sometimes fracture, especially when made from lower-quality metals or porcelain.

This is one of the strongest materials available for both crowns and bridges.

Zirconia crowns can take on an opaque, “lifeless” appearance, and they can be difficult to polish without scratching the surrounding teeth.

This is the longest-used crown and a conservative go-to for many dentists. They wear just like typical enamel and last longer than any other material available. They also don’t require much of the tooth to be removed before placing the crown, ensuring minimal harm and a long survival time.
