Dental X-Ray

A comprehensive exam includes taking multiple x-rays and OPG. There is always a concern regarding the amount of radiation involved in this process. To address this concern, we use a digital x-ray system that reduces your exposure to radiation by up to 90% however, the amount of information conveyed is greatly enhanced.

With digital x-ray, we can use image manipulation software to analyse the image and see things we could never see before. Contrast can be enhanced, colour can be added, and changes that would otherwise be very subtle and possibly missed become very obvious.

Some people adopt the philosophy that they won't have dental x-rays unless they feel something is wrong. However, the main reason for taking x-rays is to find issues before they become serious problems.

WHAT X-RAYS REVEAL:

  • Small cavities that we can't see with our eyes because they are between the teeth.
  • Signs of gum disease, such as bone loss or subgingival calculus.
  • Impacted teeth.
  • Infected or necrotic root canal systems.
  • Unusual pathologies, such as bone cancers, cysts, and other diseases.
